The project is owned by the World Wide Water Awareness Foundation. This Foundation was founded in 1997 and is registered at the Rotterdam Chamber of Commerce. Board members are members of Junior Chamber The Netherlands.

A Board of Recommendation supports the World Wide Water Awareness project. Currently, the members of the Board of Recommendation are:

• Wouter van Dieren, manager of IMSA Amsterdam and member of the Club of Rome
• Mr. Ismail Serageldin, Vice President Special Programs of The World Bank and Chairman of the World Commission on Water for the 21st Century
• Prof. H.L.F. Saeys, Dutch Department of Water and a leading expert on water management
• Ir. J.M. Leemhuis-Stout, former Queen's Commissioner for the Province of South Holland
• Prof. Angel Alejandrino, National Hydraulics Research Centre UP, Philippines
